Opt-in membership is available to businesses that either exist out-with the catchment area of Nairn BID, or whose property’s rateable value lies below the £1000 threshold, but still wish to support the BID and receive most of the benefits that members do. As Nairn BID exists for the improvement of Nairn as a whole then supporting the BID can be a valuable way of saying to your customers that you as a business are contributing to making Nairn a better place.
Opt-in members receive the same benefits as other members, they just don’t have the voting rights that levy area businesses do when it comes to the renewal ballot for the BID. For the five year business plan which outlines the main areas of spending and objectives of Nairn BID, please click here.
They can apply for free stalls at our events and markets, benefit from free marketing and promotion (website listing, social media sharing and member of the month), and attend our meetings, business workshops and networking events.
Nairn BID organises street markets along the High Street several times a year. The BID also runs Taste of Nairn, Wheels of Nairn and the Countdown to Christmas events.
If you think your business would benefit by being part of the BID and you would like to join, please fill in our application form. You can also send us a photograph and listing wording for the VisitNairn website.
Opt-in membership starts from £125 a year. Membership runs for our financial year from 1st October to 30th September. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch – office@nairnconnects.com
Businesses are being encouraged to get involved in a three-day food and drink festival which is now in its sixth year.

Taste of Nairn, which for the second year will be supported by the Golf View Hotel & Spa will take place in the seaside town from Friday, May 8 till Sunday, May 10.
And businesses in the Nairn area are being invited to attend the festival’s launch event, a business breakfast, in March to find out how they can enjoy a slice of the action.
Taste of Nairn incorporates two markets, demonstrations, tastings and a number of individual events over the weekend.
The launch event, which will be held in the Golf View Hotel and Spa will give those interested, the opportunity to hear what it is all about and to brainstorm ideas with representatives from Nairn BID, who are the event organisers.
Carolyn Carrington from the Golf View Hotel & Spa said she was delighted to be supporting the event for a second time: “We absolutely loved being involved in Taste of Nairn last year and are thrilled to be supporting it again.
“The Golf View Hotel and Spa is going to go big this year, with a specific Taste of Nairn tasting menu, and special offers over the course of the weekend. We will be attending the indoor market too, where there will be offers given out that people can enjoy throughout the year.
“We would really encourage businesses with a food or drink connection to come along to the launch event which we are delighted to be the venue for. We will have a team there to talk about our own experiences of getting involved, but they will also be able to talk through ideas and hear from the Nairn BID team about how it all works.”
Carolyn added: “Taste of Nairn is a brilliant event which celebrates the incredible local produce and rich culinary history of the town. The event is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the craftsmanship that makes Nairn’s food scene so great and a chance to sample delicious cuisine.”

As well as the markets and standalone events, Taste of Nairn is also home to the World Tattie Scone Championships which is supported by Oakwood Cookery School.
For the third year, Taste of Nairn will host two markets, one held in the town’s Community and Arts Centre and the other in the town centre, run by Moray Markets.
Lucy Harding, Nairn BID manager said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with the Golf View Hotel & Spa again and are very appreciative of their support. They are a very active member of Nairn BID. We’re excited and enthused that they want to do even more for Taste of Nairn this year and we also look forward to encouraging other businesses to get involved.”
Lucy added: “Each year we make tweaks to the event programme to make sure it is fresh and offers something new. We are currently working on the programme and are encouraging as many businesses as possible to get involved. Nairn has a fantastic food and drink offering; wonderful bistros and restaurants, takeaways, ice cream shops and of course the bespoke food and drink shops we have on our High Street. We are so proud of our food and drink outlets. Taste of Nairn is a brilliant platform to be able to shout about that.”
