Opt-in membership is available to businesses that either exist out-with the catchment area of Nairn BID, or whose property’s rateable value lies below the £1000 threshold, but still wish to support the BID and receive most of the benefits that members do. As Nairn BID exists for the improvement of Nairn as a whole then supporting the BID can be a valuable way of saying to your customers that you as a business are contributing to making Nairn a better place.
Opt-in members receive the same benefits as other members, they just don’t have the voting rights that levy area businesses do when it comes to the renewal ballot for the BID. For the five year business plan which outlines the main areas of spending and objectives of Nairn BID, please click here.
They can apply for free stalls at our events and markets, benefit from free marketing and promotion (website listing, social media sharing and member of the month), and attend our meetings, business workshops and networking events.
Nairn BID organises street markets along the High Street several times a year. The BID also runs Taste of Nairn, Wheels of Nairn and the Countdown to Christmas events.
If you think your business would benefit by being part of the BID and you would like to join, please fill in our application form. You can also send us a photograph and listing wording for the VisitNairn website.
Opt-in membership starts from £125 a year. Membership runs for our financial year from 1st October to 30th September. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch – office@nairnconnects.com
Basil Harbour Café sprung back into action on Good Friday, making sure everyone got the cheeky bacon roll they’ve been craving since an early close in November 2020.

But they haven’t sat idly all this time. Behind the scenes, they’ve been getting ready to reopen, with woodwork touch-ups, new menu items, and a fresh coat of paint to the inside and out. With that in mind, it’s easy to see how they’re our Member of the Month for April.
Jamie Barron explains: “On the run up to reopening, I’ve been painting the kitchen and cafe inside, and the woodwork outside. I’ve changed the colours to a light blue: new season, new look.”
Some of you may recognise this colour, as Jamie picked a shade to match what it would have been back when Basil’s first opened. What a lovely throwback!
“We’ll be back with all our usuals: filled rolls, sandwiches, tea, coffee, cake, ice cream, milkshakes, burgers, chips, soup.
“But we’re also going to be introducing some new menu items to make sure we’re stocked up on all our customers favourites.” (did someone say tapas?)
Basil’s pride themselves on the fact that their menu items are made on premises. So you can be sure what you’re eating really is fresh, local, and made with love. But none of this would be possible without their brilliant in-house staff.
At present, Basil’s will be open from Friday to Monday only, and they are looking to hire a Café Assistant to help out during this time and throughout the season – see job opportunity here.
As restrictions are lifted and more businesses open, Basil’s may be looking to recruit more staff as they expand their shifts and return to a 7-day week.
