Opt-in membership is available to businesses that either exist out-with the catchment area of Nairn BID, or whose property’s rateable value lies below the £1000 threshold, but still wish to support the BID and receive most of the benefits that members do. As Nairn BID exists for the improvement of Nairn as a whole then supporting the BID can be a valuable way of saying to your customers that you as a business are contributing to making Nairn a better place.
Opt-in members receive the same benefits as other members, they just don’t have the voting rights that levy area businesses do when it comes to the renewal ballot for the BID. For the five year business plan which outlines the main areas of spending and objectives of Nairn BID, please click here.
They can apply for free stalls at our events and markets, benefit from free marketing and promotion (website listing, social media sharing and member of the month), and attend our meetings, business workshops and networking events.
Nairn BID organises street markets along the High Street several times a year. The BID also runs Taste of Nairn, Wheels of Nairn and the Countdown to Christmas events.
If you think your business would benefit by being part of the BID and you would like to join, please fill in our application form. You can also send us a photograph and listing wording for the VisitNairn website.
Opt-in membership starts from £125 a year. Membership runs for our financial year from 1st October to 30th September. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch – office@nairnconnects.com
“Like Santa, our elves help us all year round; but only come out at Christmas time. After all, we are an Elf Food Shop…” take a careful look in the windows of this wonderful shop for further Christmas based cheer…

SKY Delights is based on Leopold Street and has three part-time employees (Freya, Jae and Jake). Sam is the owner, and has a very part-time volunteer brother (Chris). Interesting fact: The name SKY Delights comes from Sam’s initials (Samantha Katherine Young).
Sam started the business on Leopold Street in 2010, having taken voluntary redundancy from lecturing in nursing in Inverness. She wanted to approach health from a different, yet complementary angle.
At the time, Nairn was about to lose both its deli and its health food shop. Sam shopped in both so wanted to create a place to do her own shopping! Today they sell ethically sourced food, drinks (Sam reckons the best take away coffee in Nairn – but there are a lot of candidates for that particular prize!), supplements, toiletries, cleaning products, essential oils, fresh fruit and veg and a veritable wall full of teas.
Sam’s nursing and sociology backgrounds helped shape a shop that prioritises the health of the land (products are organic where possible); the health of the person (we are what we eat and if we need supplementary help, nature usually has an answer); and embraces the weird, wonderful and extremely tasty! SKY Delights love questions and will try to find answers/options whenever they can.

Sam says that the BID allows small independent businesses to have a collective voice and provides them with both local and regional information that is relevant to their needs. They also find that they are still welcoming new customers who are Nairn born and bred, but who haven’t been in to see them before. The shop is a veritable tardis of delights and, once inside, most people find something they like.
The range of products is always developing and they are happy to order in non-stock items for their customers. If you want a bespoke hamper box for anyone, let them know and they will create a feast of flavours according to the person’s needs. Specific dietary requirements are their speciality.
As one means of thanking old friends and welcoming new customers, they are inviting everybody to join them for mulled drinks and nibbles on Friday 22nd December from 3pm.
One thing Sam loves about Nairn is the fact it takes so long to walk down Nairn High Street due to the amount of folk to say hello to.
