Member of the Month – The Brae Gallery

At this special time of year, it is important to reflect on all the amazing changes that have taken place in our town, from new benches, to new signage and maps, to new shopfront painting, to new businesses on our High Street.

That’s why we’re celebrating the Brae Gallery, formerly the Nairn Picture Framers & Gallery, as our Member of the Month for December.

The Brae Gallery might not have moved far (they are right next door to their old premises!) but the move certainly hasn’t been a small or easy task. Anne Maclennan, shop owner, tells us: “After three months of hard work, we are now up and running in our new space just next door at 105 on the Brae.”

Formerly the Inverness Boiler Company, this new space has at least three times the floorspace of the previous shop, and is now host to even more artworks and art gifts for people to browse at their leisure.

Anne continues: “We are delighted with the bigger space that allows us to exhibit more lovely artwork, and we are still busy framing as usual in our new and improved workshop.”

In fact, there are so many new additions to the collection that you’ll be spoiled for choice!

You may recognise some works from the previous shop display, such as the ‘Island’ prints by Hope Blamire, ‘Magical’ prints by Matylda Konecka, and ‘Ceilidh’ prints by Janet McCrorie. New artists also include Kirstie Cohen, Scott Naismith and Karen Price.

The Brae Gallery shows their support in putting local first by including local artists work in their displays. Anne shares what you might find in store: “We have prints of Nairn and the local area, a new range of jewellery by Tinsmiths, and beautiful resin cast hares by Linda Golden.”

Whether it’s something to adorn your walls or a cute, hand-crafter stocking filler, you definitely won’t be stuck on what to buy this Christmas #ChooseLocal

By making this ambitious and successful move, another new business has been able to join Nairn’s town centre: Vinyl 2 Vintage.

As well as a number of other local businesses, both Vinyl 2 Vintage and the Brae Gallery took part in the filming of Nairn’s upcoming promotional film. The idea behind the film is to show people that Nairn is more than just a summer destination, and that there is plenty to do year-round. Watch out on social media for when this premieres!

Lastly, the Brae Gallery would like to share a few words of thanks: “We would like to wish all our customers a happy festive season and best wishes for 2022, with special thanks for the amazing support from regular and new customers who have kept us busy framing their lovely artworks, and for being so patient with the big move.”
