Opt-in membership is available to businesses that either exist out-with the catchment area of Nairn BID, or whose property’s rateable value lies below the £1000 threshold, but still wish to support the BID and receive most of the benefits that members do. As Nairn BID exists for the improvement of Nairn as a whole then supporting the BID can be a valuable way of saying to your customers that you as a business are contributing to making Nairn a better place.
Opt-in members receive the same benefits as other members, they just don’t have the voting rights that levy area businesses do when it comes to the renewal ballot for the BID. For the five year business plan which outlines the main areas of spending and objectives of Nairn BID, please click here.
They can apply for free stalls at our events and markets, benefit from free marketing and promotion (website listing, social media sharing and member of the month), and attend our meetings, business workshops and networking events.
Nairn BID organises street markets along the High Street several times a year. The BID also runs Taste of Nairn, Wheels of Nairn and the Countdown to Christmas events.
If you think your business would benefit by being part of the BID and you would like to join, please fill in our application form. You can also send us a photograph and listing wording for the VisitNairn website.
Opt-in membership starts from £125 a year. Membership runs for our financial year from 1st October to 30th September. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch – office@nairnconnects.com

September 2025
September is all about Wheels of Nairn so the spotlight was very much put in this event which is now in its fifth year.
Visitors from Austria stole the show at the event by securing the best in show prize.
Anton Hohenauer with his 1989 BMW E30 M3 Evolution 1 and Daniel Dietrich with a 1983 Opel Ascona C ended up joint winners after wowing the judges with their vehicles at Wheels of Nairn.
The pair took home a trophy and were presented with a hamper made from treats and gifts from the town’s shops. The hamper was sponsored by Dean Ross of RM Towbars.
Hundreds of spectators descended on Nairn Links with a range of vehicles being showcased.
There were 17 different classes including cars from before the first world war to motorcars of special interest, show and shine, rally and competition vehicles to name but a few.
The Best Bike in show belongs to Andy Gray. His 1982 Kawasaki z 1300 received a trophy and a £50 voucher gifted by Gordon Holding of The Havelock. The Best Club stand was given to JDM Highlands.
Over 350 vehicles registered to take part in the event, making it the biggest Wheels of Nairn to date and the day also incorporated stalls, demo stands and children’s entertainment.
Lucy Harding, manager of Nairn BID who organise the event said: “Congratulations to all of the winners. It was a tough job for this year’s judges, so much so, that the Best in Show had to be shared. We are delighted that our overseas guests had a great day and took home a prize. The display of vehicles was sensational, and we are truly grateful to each and every person who comes along to take part in Wheels of Nairn. The event has grown year on year and this was our biggest yet.”
She added: “We must also thank our sponsors who helped make the event possible. Nairn Car Sales has been with us from the beginning back in 2019 and each year, more and more businesses have got involved and their contributions make the event extra special.”
One of the highlights of the event was 110-year-old fire appliance Betsy, a new edition to this year’s Wheels of Nairn. She was brought along by the Northeast Scottish Fire Heritage Trust.
New this year was a fun car treasure hunt which launched at the start of September.
People were encouraged to visit Nairn town centre and spot 15 miniature cars ‘parked’ in shop windows.
Each car represented a letter, and people were tasked to collect all the letters and work out what the magic three words were – Nairn Loves Local.
Lucy said: “This was a fun new addition to Wheels of Nairn and the idea was to make sure that people got out and about to enjoy our beautiful seaside town. We have visitors coming to Nairn from all over for Wheels of Nairn, and we do our best to encourage them to enjoy the show, but also head up to the town centre and see what a wonderful selection of shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants we have and certainly, from speaking to people at the event, that’s what they were doing.”
