New Board Member for BID

Nairn Bid is delighted to welcome Ailsa Cane as its latest board member.

Ailsa is the manager of the Highland Hospice Bookshop located on Leopold Street which is supported by 16 volunteers.

She grew up on the outskirts of Nairn and after leaving in her teens for university, travel, and to broaden her career, she returned to the town in her forties when she realised what a special place Nairn is.

Ailsa has 30 years’ experience in retail management. She was manager of Borders bookshop in Inverness and General Manager of over 60 staff in Borders Birstall. When Borders closed she moved to Barnardos where she was area manager of 29 charity shops throughout Yorkshire, with 64 staff and over 400 volunteers.

She hopes that her experience will allow her to help, support, nurture and grow the businesses of Nairn in a sensitive way that preserves the town’s unique character, maximises funding opportunities, creates employment, involves community, meets the needs of locals, and makes Nairn a prime destination for visitors.
