Opt-in membership is available to businesses that either exist out-with the catchment area of Nairn BID, or whose property’s rateable value lies below the £1000 threshold, but still wish to support the BID and receive most of the benefits that members do. As Nairn BID exists for the improvement of Nairn as a whole then supporting the BID can be a valuable way of saying to your customers that you as a business are contributing to making Nairn a better place.
Opt-in members receive the same benefits as other members, they just don’t have the voting rights that levy area businesses do when it comes to the renewal ballot for the BID. For the five year business plan which outlines the main areas of spending and objectives of Nairn BID, please click here.
They can apply for free stalls at our events and markets, benefit from free marketing and promotion (website listing, social media sharing and member of the month), and attend our meetings, business workshops and networking events.
Nairn BID organises street markets along the High Street several times a year. The BID also runs Taste of Nairn, Wheels of Nairn and the Countdown to Christmas events.
If you think your business would benefit by being part of the BID and you would like to join, please fill in our application form. You can also send us a photograph and listing wording for the VisitNairn website.
Opt-in membership starts from £125 a year. Membership runs for our financial year from 1st October to 30th September. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch – office@nairnconnects.com
Nairn Connects BID is delighted to welcome two new board members, Jane Christopherson and Kirstin Grant MBE.

Jane, who owns Inverwick Cottage and Yoga Snowdrop, has taken on the role of treasurer after Calum Stewart stepped down from the role.
Jane has over 30 years’ experience in both technical and managerial roles in the public and private sector with recent governance and financial management experience in the charitable sector. In her role with Nairn BID, she wants to promote Nairn as a location of choice for visitors and one which they will return to time and time again.
She believes the BID allows the business community to come together to act as one voice and therefore achieving greater things than a stand-alone entity can.
Meanwhile, Kirstin who founded KG Scotland, a wellness and cold-water sea swimming community which offers guided cold-water immersions, paddleboarding, wellness retreats, and off-grid camping escapes, believes her role is meaningful because it’s rooted in a place that she truly loves.

She said: “There’s a real sense of community that you don’t find just anywhere, where everyone looks out for one another and takes pride in where we call home. Surrounded by such a beautiful area, rich in character and charm, I feel incredibly fortunate to contribute to something that serves this town. It’s not just about business – it’s about being part of a place that means so much to me, and I’m proud to play my part in helping Nairn to thrive.”
Lucy Harding, Nairn BID manager said: “I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to Calum who has stepped down as a director. His input and expertise in finance was a real asset to the skills of our whole board and we wish him well.”
She added: “We are delighted though to welcome both Jane and Kirstin. Both have such passion and diverse experience in running businesses, they are going to bring a wealth of knowledge to our team, setting a great route forward for Nairn’s future.”
