Wheels of Nairn 2027

Hundreds of spectators descended on Nairn Links for Wheels of Nairn, modern and classic car show which is now in sixth year.

There were 13 different classes including cars from before the first world war to motorcars of special interest, show and shine, rally and competition vehicles, and motorbikes to name just a few.

However, it was a Porche 365 that stole the show with owner Richie Ubych taking home the Best In Show accolade along with his winner’s hamper, sponsored by RM Towbars and a trophy.

The Best Bike in show went to Alister Fyfe with his 1960 BSA Gold Flash. He received a trophy and a £50 voucher gifted by The Havelock Bar. The Best Club stand was given to the Jaguar Drivers Club.

Over 350 vehicles registered to take part in the event and despite the wind meaning Nairn BID, the organisers of the event taking the tough decision to cancel stallholders for safety reasons, there were still over 200 vehicles on site for spectators to enjoy.

New this year was the People’s Choice category where visitors to the event were asked to vote for their top vehicle. The winner was Sian Glanrid-Jones’ 1960 MGA Roadster.

Lucy Harding, manager of Nairn BID who organise the event said: “Congratulations to all of the winners. As always it was a tough job for this year’s judges. The display of vehicles was sensational, and we are truly grateful to each and every person who comes along to take part in Wheels of Nairn. The event has grown year on year. We are also pleased that the People’s Choice award was popular. There were

Just under 100 votes in total so we will definitely keep this as part of Wheels of Nairn 2027.”

She added: “We must also thank our sponsors who helped make the event possible. Nairn Car Sales has been with us from the beginning back in 2019 and each year, more and more businesses have got involved and their contributions make the event extra special, from those already mentioned to The Bandtsand Bar who give vouchers for the category winners and The Nairn Wool Shop who handmake all the rosettes. All of these supporters make a huge difference.”

For a second time, a car treasure hunt which launched at the start of September took place where people were encouraged to visit Nairn town centre and spot 13 miniature cars ‘parked’ in shop windows.

Each car represented a letter, and people were tasked to collect all the letters and work out what the magic three words were – Nairn Car Sales.

Lucy said: “These hunts have proved very popular and we have had great feedback from people taking part and from the businesses themselves. It really does get people moving around the town. We now also run something similar for Taste of Nairn which is a three-day food and drink festival that we organise each year in May. For all the events we run, we have visitors coming from all over and we do our best to encourage them enjoy everything that our town has to offer.

“All in all, Wheels of Nairn 2026 has been a success and we look forward to next year.”
